This is Closing Time CBGB by Goldis. I found this to be a really interesting shot, because it is not very often seen in this context, probably not very often seen by anyone but staff and the last few people to leave. The image itself is very grainy and high contrast. It is a longer exposure so you can see the camera shake, this is part of its appeal i guess. It gives the image a very emotive quality. The space was loved (and absued you could say) for a while and now it feels cold and lonely, like it is waiting to be cleaned up so it can do it again. All of the lines in the image point to the back (which appears to be the exit) which makes me feel like I should leave if I were standing there.
This image comes from the Proud gallery in London. It is Buddy Holly performing. I chose this image because of its energy. Everyone in the picture seems so focused. It is an interesting composition (this is a bad reproduction), he is just off center and it is really bottom heavy. This creates some visual tension. Because of the this as well it almost carries a film still quality. It creates an interest in what happens next.
